Factory tours are not new to us. I inherited a love of tours from my mother SMB, who as an educator, has had the opportunity to visit a lot of places not open to the general public. My father CB worked in the Pulp and Paper industry and has seen more factories, mills and plants than I can ever hope to see.
J and I make sure to include Vineyard, Coffee Plantation, Brewery and/or Factory tours on every vacation itinerary. We feel like you can learn a lot about a region when you take a look at what resources the have, what they make and where the locals work.
Below is a list of some of the places we have toured already. I am actually hoping to get back to a few of these again and look at them with fresh eyes and my evaluation form.
I definitely have favorites and tend to, perhaps unfairly, judge other tours based on those. My favorite tour of all time is Huy Fong Foods, makers of Sriracha, that SMB and I went on a couple of years ago. Every single aspect was outstanding. Allagash Brewery also has an amazing tour that I judge all other brewery tours against.
